FPGA Designer

Location: St-Laurent, QC, Canada

Aversan Inc. is a multi-service engineering firm specializing in design, build, testing, certification, and support services for embedded flight and rail systems & software, health technology, and advanced IT.

Responsibilities

  • Review code, test procedures and test results;
  • Analyse and implement corrections for errors and defects;
  • Generate the development life cycle data;
  • Provides input for design quotes;
  • Design and develop state-of-the-art FPGA complex functions in VHDL;
  • Verify FPGA complex functions using System Verilog;
  • Participate in the DO-254 Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) development, verification, and certification process related to FPGA;
  • Be a participant in the Hardware and HDL code design review process;
  • Participate in the architecture, design and development of receivers;
  • Support the planning, coordination and prioritization of activities related to FPGA development, manufacturing and supporting groups;
  • Support the design of state-of-the-art digital hardware including processor decks;
  • Participate in design for test and manufacturability activities;
  • Participate in safety/reliability design-related activities;
  • Provide documentation for requirements, design descriptions, tests, and production support;
  • Support management, systems, and manufacturing in various planning or problem-solving tasks.
 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years' of experience in design and manufacturing of electronics systems;
  • Experience writing functional requirements and designs in VHDL;
  • Knowledgeable of Vivado and libero;
  • Knowledge of FPGA vendor tools for synthesis, implementation, simulation, timing analysis, constraints definition and programming;
  • Knowledge of civil and military aviation standards and related development processes: DO-254, DO-160, DO-178 and MIL-STD;
  • Experience with design for safety/reliability and flight critical avionics/safety-of-life systems is an asset;
  • Proficiency with FW/SW configuration, documentation and trace tools (DOORS, …) is an asset;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills.
