About the Role
We’re looking for a Control Hardware Designer to join our growing automation engineering team. In this role, you’ll design the electrical and control systems that power complex automation machinery from concept through to commissioning.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical designers and project managers, to produce complete electrical design packages that are safe, reliable, and built to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and cable routing diagrams using EPLAN (2022 or later).
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material requisition forms.
  • Collaborate with mechanical design teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Select and specify controls components (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives).
  • Ensure all designs meet applicable electrical and safety codes (NFPA 70/79, CSA, UL 508A).
  • Integrate third-party systems such as vision equipment, robots, and motion control devices.
  • Perform key electrical design calculations (load analysis, panel cooling, short-circuit ratings).
  • Support troubleshooting and testing during assembly and commissioning phases.
  • Provide technical documentation and training to customers when required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Controls Technology.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical control system design, preferably in automation or machinery.
  • Strong proficiency with EPLAN for electrical design.
  • Solid understanding of low-voltage power distribution and control panel architecture.
  • Familiarity with electrical safety and compliance standards (NFPA, CSA, UL, ISO).
  • Experience integrating hardware such as robots, vision systems, sensors, or motion controllers.
Nice to Have
  • Experience working on custom automation machinery, robotics, or production equipment.
  • Field experience with commissioning, machine testing, or customer support.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, or PLC programming is a plus.
