Senior Controls Engineer

We are seeking a qualified Senior Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design and implementation of advanced control systems that support cutting-edge sonar technologies. The ideal candidate brings a strong electrical background and a passion for developing reliable, high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and test control systems based on ABB Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).

  • Architect control system components including actuators, motors, sensors, and communication protocols.

  • Select, configure, and program PLCs, motor drives, HMIs, and other related hardware.

  • Develop and maintain control system software using industry-standard programming languages.

  • Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure system performance meets design specifications.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve electrical and control system issues both in-house and on-site.

  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation including schematics, data interface control documents (ICDs), ladder logic diagrams, and functional specifications.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards throughout the design and implementation process.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in control systems engineering, with a focus on industrial digital communication protocols and machine control applications.

  • Demonstrated expertise in PLC programming, hardware integration, and control system design.

  • Solid knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control, and safety systems.

  • Proven experience commissioning control systems and troubleshooting I/O issues.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly.

  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.
